very year the artists and artisans of Ontario and western Quebec open their doors to the public in organized studio tours. Individual artists exhibit their work in their own homes and studios, many of them nestled down picturesque country roads, or tucked beside a placid lake or babbling brook. Every art form imaginable—and some unimaginable—adorn studio walls, outdoor spaces, and even gardens. You will find no shortage of tours to enjoy throughout the year. TOUR DE FOREST STUDIO TOUR
July 30 & 31, 2011
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Haliburton Tour de Forest is an annual artists’ tour, currently in its fifth year, with 12 studios, 29 artisans, and a dazzling array of finely crafted pottery, glass, jewellery, painting, woodworking, fibre sculpture, photography, and percussion instruments. Enjoy the benefits of a compact tour and a chance to take in Haliburton’s gorgeous summer scenery.

HIGHLANDS EAST STUDIO TOUR

THE NORTHUMBERLAND HILLS STUDIO TOUR

Admission free—studios open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Northumberland Hills are located 90 km east of Toronto and extend from Port Hope and Cobourg along Lake Ontario, through small heritage towns and villages and up into the rolling countryside of Rice Lake.
